That's How I Got My Nickname, Frenchy
First of all, among the piles of crap that is 9 year olds who have been in some sugary sweet version of mommy and daddy's 1970's, disco extravaganza they call Grease... I found this picture of the original broadway cast.
Most of the cast went out last night to eat and drink which was fun. We had a great time talking and stuff like we usually do. Isabel is starting to look like a pro with her ciggarette in her hand.
We ran ACT I which felt a little better then it has, now that Patty is growing into something that isn't Suzanne Summers on crack. Anyway I'm mostly off book. OK I am off book, but I'm pretty sure I'm mixing up a word here and there which I HATE, so I'll have to go through my script again.
OK, off to Jazz class!

No Hollywood Glamor!
I really didn't think it would be so difficult to find pictures of realy people in the 50's. Everything is Hollywood pictures, or glamorous styles and what not. Anyway, I'm discovering that people really didn't look as gorgeous and glamorous as I always thought they did. they were just kind of plain, like now, only even more plain... and less people were over weight. probably from all that dancing. I guess they didn't really have as many indoor things like TV, internet and video games and what not. The went out dancing a lot more. And they went to the movies. Well off to 6 hours of class I go. I have to work on my cinematography project, but I plan on forcing my boyfriend to watch Night of the Demon and Curse of the Demon with me tonight for some more relaxing research. See everyone tomorrow!

There Are Worse Things I Could Do
I read the chapter on Grease in that autobiography. It's really interesting how so many people think Grease is a bubblegum pop cheesy neon color fest, and it's not. According to her it was never supposed to be. And apperently Patty used to have a solo (DAMN YOU!) but hey shit happens. I guess changes just had to be made. She said the show wasn't working, and it got just aweful reviews. I guess they just didn't get it.
Well anyway, I must watch Sunset Boulivard for my film noir research paper. clean my room (arg), write another page of that paper, rearange the closet, and then find time to sleep. Class from 11-4pm tomorrow and then another rehearsal. Oh man, I better look up those songs my voice teacher gave me. Weel good night then!

#4-8 More Stuff
Humor:
Patty is humorous in that she doesn’t understand how much everyone dislikes her. She is the kind of girl who gets made fun of every day, and then comes back the next day as if you’re her best friend. there is also humor in her sex appeal. She tries to pull in Danny by being like Rizzo because she has street smarts that Sandy is still developing (but does not entirely lack). When she sudden;y shows her sexy, street smart personality it is humorous on it’s own. (like in the cheering scene with Sandy and Danny)
Opposites:
Patty rejects the world the Greasers live in, but Patty wants to be accepted by the Greasers.
Patty wants to be friends with Sandy, but Patty wants to out do Sandy.
Patty lusts after Danny Zuko, but Patty hates his lifestyle.
Patty looks up to Frenchy, but Patty hates how Frenchy treats her.
Patty knows Danny wants a girl like Rizzo, but Patty knows he would like her if he gave her a chance.
Patty likes Eugene, but thinks Eugene is below her.
Discoveries:
Patty discovers Sandy met the perfect guy,
Patty discovers Danny had tricked Sandy,
Patty discovers Doody can play the guitar.
Patty discovers she can talk Danny into doing things.
Patty discovers Eugene can’t dance well.
Patty discovers she is supposed to do the dance contest with Eugene.
Patty discovers Danny thinks she is a snob.
Patty discovers Danny quit the track team.
Patty discovers Sandy would like to be friends with her.
Communication:
Lunch room scene: Running for vice president is exciting.
Hallway: The fact that Doody plays the guitar is really cool.
Cheer scene: She’ll take Danny away from Sandy.
High School Hop: The dance is SOOOO exciting.
Hand Jive: Dance = Sex
Last Scene: Anger
Game Playing:
Patty pretends to be like Rizzo.

Before Patty sings “High School Hop” she was looking all over for the coolest accessories to wear with her prom dress.
Before dancing with Eugene, Patty was hanging up decorations.
Before spotting Danny at the dance, Patty was looking around the room for a reason to ditch Eugene.
Before doing the stroll Patty was hoping for another song so she and Danny could dance together some more.
Before beind told off by Danny, Patty was sure she was making progress.

#2 Conflict
Still in third person.
2) Conflict:
Patty is fighting for acceptance in a world that she rejects. She is afraid of the world, but understands it well and has plenty of street smarts. However, this is the world that destroyed her older brother. She is torn not only between her need to be liked, and her dislike for the world she lives in, but also her love of school, and the fact that the Greasers dislike her and torment her.
