2) Conflict:
Patty is fighting for acceptance in a world that she rejects. She is afraid of the world, but understands it well and has plenty of street smarts. However, this is the world that destroyed her older brother. She is torn not only between her need to be liked, and her dislike for the world she lives in, but also her love of school, and the fact that the Greasers dislike her and torment her.
